The De Rooy pocket organizer is made from deep sepia brown leather — dark, warm and smooth, with the natural grain of the hide showing through and a soft sheen that comes up further the more it's handled. So far, so classic. What lifts it is the finishing. A brass corner protector, antique-toned and carrying the De Rooy monogram, is set into the lower right edge; that's the corner that wears first on any planner carried in a bag, and it's the one detail most manufacturers leave unprotected. Fine tan topstitching runs the full perimeter and around the closure tab, giving the plain brown a defined edge rather than letting it read as a flat panel.
None of this shouts. There's no pattern, no gloss and no large logo on the cover — the brass corner is the only mark, and it sits low and small. It's the sort of planner that looks unremarkable at a distance and considerably better in the hand, which is generally the right way round.
